Great British Model Railway 2014 Show

Here is a small video of my 3dk.ca OO Gauge model railway’s first public outing at the “Great British Model Railway 2014 Show” in Brampton last month. Quite a bit of the scenic detailing was complete but all the buildings are at this point just cardboard mock ups.
. It’s a good idea to makes mock ups of the intended building structures as you will add bit and change bits before settling on a final design. Better to do it with cheap cardboard than expensive kits.

The layout depicts a North of Scotland Royal Navy base around the sixties when the railway link to the base was almost at the end of its working life due to major road improvements to the Northern highlands. There is still lots to do on the layout before completion but you can see the very first stages of construction on my blog page at 3dkblog.blogspot.ca and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/3DK/333331670090737

A Pendon treat

Some more amazing images from Pendon museum. I visited the museum before I moved to Canada from Scotland in 2009 and would dearly love to see it once again. I must have taken hundreds of photos but the photos shown here are from the Facebook page of Gary Hinson. Please enjoy

New 3DK designs

Hi there blog buddies,

Quite a few customers have asked me what I am working on at the moment and what is new so I am starting to give updates on the progress of new designs so you get a better idea of completion dates and when the kits will be live on the website and on eBay.
I am at the moment designing a range of small offices with differing external finishes in North American HO Scale and British OO Gauge.
The kits have passed the design stage and are moving onto the instruction stage which requires me to build and photograph them which is the fun bit.

After some tweaking and re-designing and sometimes more re-designing the kits is ready for testing which is done by a mate of mine who then gives me the kit back with a comprehensive list of suggestions so it’s re-design again before finial completion.

If you have any suggestions or if there are structures you would like to see me produce then please feel free to drop me a line at

Wheel-synchronous smoke

www.3dk.ca
This I thought was pretty cool. Have a look at the video and enjoy

KM1 is the first 1-gauge manufacturer to offer realistic warm light LED lighting, wheel-synchronous smoke, independent cylinder steam, and their exclusive 'Dynamic Smoke' system.

David Wright models

I love the layouts that David Wright produces. You can see his four years at art school were not wasted.
